This may sound funny, but you might be suffering from IDIOT syndrome.
Let me tell you what it means. IDIOT stands for “Internet Derived Information Obstruction Treatment“. It means relying too much on internet information and trusting medical advice that is available online.
Before we start, let me tell you this post is written by DU, so expect some saltiness.
Symptoms of IDIOT syndrome
Excessive online research

These people call themselves researchers. They will check everything online. Even if they have a small pimple, they get worried and start searching for solutions over the internet.
These people call themselves informed and educated, but in reality, they are IDIOTS. They trust online stuff and start disseminating false information. In short, they become unwanted bogus doctors.
They consider themselves over-smart and claim to know everything just because of what the internet says.
What DU suggests: It’s okay to search things online, but too much is bad. Let me handle that for you. You can trust this holistic nutritionist.
Self diagnose
Now that these IDIOTS have searched for online information and treatment, they will start finding symptoms in themselves. They will diagnose themselves wrongly, as they don’t know the proper way and they will find a strange disease in them.
The only disease they have is stupidity. Yes, they are smart enough to use a device, but they are educated fools. They have the ability to make a normal cough a symptom of cancer through their search abilities.
This type is very very very common, and sadly I come across such fools in my life.
What DU suggests: Nowadays we can find an online doctor from reputed hospitals at one click. Instead of self diagnosis, trust a doctor.
Not trusting professionals
Such idiots further don’t trust medical professionals or they don’t trust the medicines suggested by doctors.
Clearly, the doctor who spends countless hours studying and perfecting is wrong according to the IDIOT.
Such people have found and trusted online information and now it’s hard to convince them otherwise.
These people think that if someone popular and more qualified is saying something, then he/she couldn’t be wrong. They believe such stuff easily and don’t check much further.
What DU suggests: Check online information, but check multiple sources. Also, if you are not satisfied with one doctor, it’s a good option to talk to another one.
Self treatment
IDIOTS have now graduated from FOIU- Fake online information university. That means they are now ready to treat themselves. They keep on experimenting with stuff and later suffer.
Like you must have seen such fools who do facial DIY and try to treat their ailments by learning online.
People always find crazy ways to lose weight, they trust magic pills for weight loss. But harm their bodies badly.

You can find tons of information over the internet for facial treatment, hair removal, hair growth, teeth brightening, etc.
What DU suggests: Trusting online treatment and start following it randomly is inane. If you are trying something new, always consult the respective doctor or medical professional in that field.
Conclusion
Learning online is good, I mean this post is available online, so I cannot deny that. But don’t over-trust anyone or anything.
Till now, I haven’t told you to try anything without proper research. I even became a certified nutritionist because someone questioned my articles 😛 . But, I am always learning new things and further enhancing my knowledge.
If you have any doubts, verify it. It’s better to see the right person. If you doubt your diet see a nutritionist (ahem 💁♂️ ). If you have any skin issue see a dermatologist. If you have any problem with eyes see an ophthalmologist. You get it now, don’t you?
Always verify the information or talk to DU to do that for you.
Do you trust online information ?
Do you ask google or siri about your health?
Do you take treatment because others suggested you?
Then this post was for you.

In the comments tell me if you know such people, or what’s your advice to them?
FGW will soon return with a part 2nd of food additive post. Stay tuned
Keep smiling and don’t be an IDIOT.
