AI or artificial intelligence is everywhere in 2025.
From searching for anything online to writing a blog post, you can see AI in everything.
Even WP uses AI. Like, I’m using Rank Math SEO, it has AI. I will use GPT to fix grammar and all.

Even if we see AI for healthcare, from chatbots to smartwatches, AI is integrated into everything.

Just imagine getting all the health updates through notifications. And, that is now becoming possible with AI

You can see faster diagnosis, robotic treatment, and quicker treatment. You can see that AI for healthcare has made things easier and smoother. But is it what it seems to be?
Let’s find that too.

Benefits of AI in healthcare

In this section, we will see how AI has helped in healthcare and how it has provided an extra edge.

Smart consultation

With AI chatbots and virtual assistants, one doesn’t have to wait for hours to consult a doctor.
You must have seen chatbots on many websites, where you can go and share your queries and get a quick solution.

It gives you your available options and may even help you book an appointment with a doctor. What was not certain earlier is now automated.

Early detection

In some studies, it was found that AI can detect lung scans and mammograms more accurately.
Many models are even capable of detecting breast cancer with fewer false positives/negatives as compared to human experts.

AI can also effectively detect eye diseases, early risks of heart diseases, and rare diseases with tech like facial recognition, effectively and efficiently.

Robotic treatment

AI-enabled robots help surgeons perform complex surgeries with ease.
Like the Da Vinci Surgical System, which is used in prostate and cardiac surgery.

Surgeons can operate from far away with AI-assisted robots. For example, in China, doctors used a 5G-enabled robot to perform brain surgery from miles away.

Faster insights

AI can handle vast amounts of data and can even provide quicker insights into important medicine.
It can also provide a better flow and system of work in hospitals.

It reduces paperwork like billing, scheduling and management. It can guide people to the availability of the service in advance.

AI can read X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs faster than humans, which can help in quicker resolution.

smart hospital is a step for AI for healthcare

For example, Google’s AI dermatology tool helped identify 288 skin conditions with just a couple of smartphone images.

Drug discovery and development

In many cases, AI has made drug discovery and development faster. It can help in analyzing and comparing faster and provide better options faster than humans.

AI is not just about new treatment but a better cure.

Smarter analysis

I’m sure you are already aware of smartwatches and rings that have made a lot of data available.

We now have a lot of info in our hands, like blood oxygen levels, heart rate, and even air quality.

Nowadays, you can even adjust your workout plan, understand what’s going wrong, and make the right improvements with the help of AI.

You can find AI-enabled shoes, a vest, a tracker, water bottle that can help you track better and smarter

These things have made AI in healthcare much smarter and more accessible.

How AI for healthcare has many flaws

There are tons of benefits of AI for healthcare, but a few side effects shouldn’t be ignored.

Like, sometimes AI diagnoses wrongly.

It can give wrong info

Sometimes chatbots can give wrong info, or AI diagnosis can be insufficient.
Certain info can be misleading or incomplete, and people may take wrong steps due to that.
Or, they may ignore going to doctors.

Like people seeking free treatment and asking for weight loss plans or diet plans from ChatGPT, they may end up harming themselves because that’s not customized but rather generalized.

In my last post, I included how calorie counting can do more bad than good.
So AI is not making things easy, but riskier

AI will always give you what you want to hear

And that’s the problem. Because people use AI for healing and trauma recovery.
AI cannot give an empathetic response. It cannot understand how you are feeling. It will wait for your prompt to guide you.

It can even give a generic response to all. There’s a sharp increase in people using AI as a personal healer and counsellor; surely, it can guide you, help you take the next step, but all that depends on the prompt.

Most of the time, it’s not reliable and can even trigger you to take a major step.

Like there are many instances when AI gave some response which actually caused more harm. Even psychologists are against it, because you can’t get such info from AI.

Data is not always safe

If you read the guidelines, you will find that you are freely allowing AI to use your data for research and improvement of the system.

AI can use pictures and information for its own use.

With AI in healthcare, it can access personal info from chatbots to train its language models.

There have been instances where personal data has been sold to advertisers

Conclusion

AI for healthcare seems wonderful because of advancements like AI-controlled robots and early detection. But it may take a few more years before it reaches everyone.
Right now, there’s a lot of advancement, and not just in the field of healthcare.

Use AI tools for awareness, but when it comes to your health, always let the final word come from a certified medical professional.

How does AI help with health?

AI is like your over-smart friend who remembers everything. It can scan X-rays, check your heart rate, analyze blood reports, and even remind you to book an appointment. Basically, it saves time and makes healthcare smoother.
Yes, it reminds you to ask AI as well

Can ChatGPT do medical diagnosis?

No. ChatGPT is a text generator, not your family doctor. It can give you general info, but it’s not certified to diagnose. Always see a real doctor before making health decisions.

Can AI detect health problems?

Yes, AI can detect things like cancer in scans, heart disease risks, and even eye problems earlier than humans sometimes.
In some cases it come out as more accurate. But remember: it’s a tool, not a replacement for proper medical check-ups

Will AI replace health coaches

AI can make meal plans, workout ideas, or even stress tips at you. But it “can’t” coach you. A real health coach listens, adapts, understands your emotions, and keeps you accountable (a.k.a. nags you until you move your butt). AI can’t do that, at least not with empathy

  1. Great post as always, Devang!

  2. Great job disseminating the information, D. Did you write this or did AI? The jury is out for me and I’m slow to get on board as I have a lot of skepticism… 🩷

    1. I’ve written this
      Haha

      Why?

      Not my style?

  3. When used correctly, AI can be incredibly helpful. Really great post showing how it can help the medical field.

  4. Useful post! AI can help with insights but sometimes it can make errors.
