Valentine’s Day is approaching and FGW has nothing to do with it…. Ahhh wrong, I can still write a good blog post based on that, because I am that good (jk).
Why people celebrate Valentine’s Day is unknown. I mean, people need a specific day to express love? That’s wonderful. I won’t be explaining the history of Valentine’s Day. I would rather focus on some healthy gift ideas that can make this Valentine’s day a bit healthy and useful.
When you are gifting someone, make sure it’s of some use. I don’t understand the point of gifting someone an enormous teddy bear. It’s a waste of money. Instead, how about some healthy gift that can make someone more healthy?
Here are some healthy gift ideas that you can gift this valentine’s day:
Healthy gift ideas: A plant
I am not sure if this was expected or not on the list, but what’s a better gift than a plant? Research suggests that Plant improves mental health. If you give it to someone, and if they are caring for it regularly, they are becoming happier and healthier with it.
If the person has space issues or less sunlight available, then you can gift them with indoor plants. Indoor plants don’t need much sunlight and can thrive beautifully within less space.
There are tons of innovative ideas available for plants and you can even hang them, or keep them in the room itself. Many plants can be used for other purposes, like aloe vera can be used for gel and what’s better than fresh gel?
Check out my previous blog post to know more about the benefits of aloe vera.

Other than that, indoor plants also clean the home environment and plants like aloe vera, palm, snake plant, spider plant, etc. give oxygen at night as well.
Healthy gift ideas: A skincare/hygiene kit
This may or may not be that surprising, as I’ve seen a great many offers on grooming kits. People gift trimming machines and perfume sets and there are magnificent offers on them.
But, when it comes to hygiene, there could be a few more things. You can give something for the face, beard, or hair that can keep one’s skin and hair healthy. Like if a person has a beard, then a special cream, oil, or pocket kit can be gifted, as a beard requires special care.
There’s a thing like a nose hair trimmer. You can gift that as well.
Men need skin care as well, as pollution and many other factors damage the skin.

Then for women; cream, sunscreen lotion, and even lotion for intimate hygiene can be gifted. In the market, you can find feminine hygiene kits that can include cream, shampoo, tissues, sanitizer, tampons, pads, nail clippers, etc.

Similarly, menstrual hygiene kits can be gifted for safe periods (especially while traveling). That includes an intimate hygiene wash, menstrual cup, steam sterilizer, etc.
Men should be comfortable talking/learning about periods/women’s health. But first, make women comfortable about it.

Healthy gift ideas: Massage/spa
This is another great idea on this list. Massage can be rejuvenating, it can relax the muscles, and ease the soreness. It opens the joints and makes movement easier, especially if you workout or have less time to relax.
Similarly, a spa session could work wonders. In the spa, massage, skincare, hair care, nail care, etc. all are included. For people who don’t have time to look after themselves, a spa session is fabulous for them.

There are various therapies these days, like acupuncture therapies, aromatherapy, hot stone massage, shiatsu massage, sports massage, etc. Vouchers of these can be gifted as well.
Healthy gift ideas: A gym membership
Look FGW is not against gymming. In fact, I go to the gym 6 days a week. In the past, I had said that you can stay fit without a gym and I still stand by that. But, a gym is a place where you can find multiple option under one roof.
I know some people who cannot stay fit without a gym. A gym is a place where they can dedicate themselves towards a healthy body. You don’t need to lift weights, but you can do a lot more there.
This post is not about the benefits of a gym, but a gym membership is a great idea. Some gyms offer couple memberships at discounted rates. By couple, it could be 2 boys, 2 girls or whatever.

You can use this Valentine’s Day to make your brother, sister, or other family members healthy.
If not a membership, then you can gift a pair of dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and a mat for an effective workout without a gym.
Similarly, a person can be enlisted in a wellness program or yoga classes for a healthy body.
Healthy gift ideas- monitoring machines
You can easily find a blood pressure monitoring machine (sphygmomanometer) in the market. That’s a splendid gift to track blood pressure, heart rate, etc. Along with that glucometer is also a good option, that can measure blood sugar at convenience of home.

Those who have to keep their blood pressure and diabetes in check, these things are good for them. Nowadays, an oximeter is also available for portable use, it can help to track oxygen and pulse. With that, you can also gift an oxygen canister. It’s a great option for people who are travelling and may require oxygen.
You can find heart rate monitoring feature in smart watches as well. A smart watch also can help you track the progress of workout.
In the end
Let’s be clear Valentine’s Day should not be the only day for love and it should not be exclusive to couples. I have mentioned healthy gift ideas that can used by everyone for anyone.
