Although I won’t be asking you to do any bizarre exercise. But, by the end of this blog, you will get answers to all your doubts and you may also start following this 1 simple routine that will change your life forever.
So without wasting much of your time, let me tell you I’m talking about Indian spices and how consuming them daily in the morning will help your body in various ways. So let me just hop in straight to the first spice(insert drum roll here).
Cumin seeds

Commonly known as “Jeera” is a very common spice, that we may(or may not) consume regularly. It is rich in vitamin A, C, copper and manganese, also it has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, that helps us in:
- Keeping the skin healthy.
- Keeps us energetic.
- Boost metabolism.
- Helps with diarrhoea.
- Improves cardiac health
All you need to do is soak 1 tablespoon of Cumin in a glass of water(or you can make more) and soak it overnight. Drink this first thing in the morning. If you have a digestive issue, you can also drink it throughout the day. You can also eat that soaked cumin.
Carom seeds

Well, I’m not talking about carom board here but carom seeds are commonly called by the name of “Ajwain”. Carom seeds are helpful because:
- It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
- It improves cholesterol.
- May lower the blood pressure.
- Provide relief from indigestion, acidity and heartburn.
- Improve liver and kidney health.
- Aids in weight loss by dissolving fat(you still be needing exercise though).
To get all these benefits you just need to soak Carom seeds in water and drink it in the morning on an empty stomach(easy right?).
Fennel seeds

Commonly known as “Sauf” is mostly used as a mouth freshener but we can’t overlook its wonderful benefits like:
- It increases metabolism.
- Relaxes stomach muscles.
- Reduce gas(in the stomach) and bloating.
- It also purifies the blood and gives us clear skin.
- Alleviate menstrual pain.
Mix Fennel seeds in water, keep it overnight and drink first thing in the morning, don’t throw fennel seeds, eat them. You will see amazing results within few days.
Fenugreek

No, for the next spice you need not go to Greece, it is easily available in your kitchen. We know it by the name of “Dana Methi”. It has amazing usefulness like:
- Helps in breaking down the fat.
- Act as an antacid.
- Helps in controlling diabetes.
- Lower down the cholesterol level.
- Support in healthy functioning of liver and gall bladder.
- Also helps in Pitta-Kapha dosha.
What I am about to tell you could be a little bitter, but don’t forget the above-mentioned benefits. You need to consume Fenugreek with water daily on an empty stomach. Just remember to soak it overnight.
Actress Malaika Arora recently shared her morning routine. She consumes Jeera and fenugreek in water every morning.
Coriander seeds

It is known as “Dhaniya”( and I’m not talking about the green leafy one). It is a very common ingredient we use during cooking. Surprisingly it has benefits like:
- It helps in boosting immunity.
- Strengthens hair.
- Reduces acne and pigmentation and gives clear skin.
- It detoxifies our bodies.
You may now know what you need to do next. Just don’t forget to take it first thing in the morning. You can also mix Dhaniya powder in water if in case you forget to soak it at night.
Jaggery water

Although Jaggery is not a spice, but I am mentioning it here, as Jaggery water is very beneficial. It is a great source of magnesium, vitamin B1, B6, C and contains minerals like zinc, selenium. Hence this nutrient-rich “Gur” gives us:
- Clean liver.
- Helps in purifying the blood and hence glowing skin.
- Raises haemoglobin in the body.
- Control blood pressure.
- Helps in flushing out the toxins.
Try this in the morning on an empty stomach. Diabetic patients should consult doctors first before taking it on daily basis.
In the end
This is simple right? One simple routine can make you healthy easily. You can try the above-mentioned spices in water and consume them daily. Getting healthy is not that hard if you know the right thing. Let it be workout or diet, Consistency is the key.

This post is very fascinating! I use many of these Indian spices in my cooking, but I hadn’t heard of soaking the seeds overnight to create a healthful drink! Thank you for these wonderful tips. I have several questions: what is the quantity of seeds I should use in a glass of water? A tablespoon or more? May I mix seeds to soak them or is it better to soak and drink each separately? Thank you, Devang.
Wow. Now I realise that I should have written all these information. 😅
You can soak 1 tablespoon in water overnight.
Now it’s your choice to mix 2 or 3 spices. The taste of that water will change a bit. Don’t forget to eat that soaked spice. Like if you have soaked Fennel seeds, chew them as well. You can also make powder of these and mix in water and have throughout the day. Really helpful for stomach issues and much more
Thanks for your helpful descriptions. I will buy fresh spices at our cooperative grocery store this weekend and try this next week.
Sounds interesting!!
Let me know what spices you are going to try and share if you feel any result.
