People often take care of their bodies externally (sometimes they don’t even do that), but forget about their internal organs. Internal care is actually very important, and the lack of care of any organ can be fatal.
I am not trying to scare you or anything, so let me come directly to the point. Today, I will talk (or rather write) about an important organ that is very often ignored. As it is clear by the heading itself, this blog is about Lungs. You already know the function of the lungs, so I won’t be discussing that. This blog will tell you how to take care of your lungs in 10 mins or less.
Enough of this never-ending intro and let’s get straight to the important things you should be doing for your lungs:
1. Physical activity
I am pretty sure you saw this coming; well, it is actually very important. I have already written about how any kind of physical activity is important for your body, heart, etc. So add lungs to that list as well.
As I have mentioned before, you can do any kind of physical activity, the goal is to keep you moving. So after reading this blog, you better make a plan or something for it. Also, check out a few of my useful blogs for more info:

2. Quit smoking
If you are a smoker, kindly quit that. Although, I know that just saying you to quit smoking, will not make you stop. But, I am sure you want to live a healthy life and want to do more things in your life. You might have already seen tons of advertisements about how dangerous smoking is for you and people around you (passive smoking is even more malignant), so kindly make a better choice.
Not convinced yet? Maybe this video will convince you a bit-
3. Eat healthily
Eating healthy is important and I have said that numerous times. This time I will specifically tell about food that is good for the lungs.

Food that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties are good for the lungs. You can take- green tea, nuts, flax seeds, fatty fish, garlic, honey, ginger, blueberries, strawberries, apple, pumpkins, green vegetables, etc. You can make a salad of these if you want at your own risk, just consider these.
4. Consider doing Pranayam
In Sanskrit “Pran” means soul or life force and “Ayam” means control. When we control Pran Vayu (air) or when we go for the correction of Pran Vayu, that protocol is called Pranayam. With Pranayam, we enhance the level of oxygen in our lungs which leads to the normal flow of blood in our body and at the same time purify it for the proper functioning of our organs.
Pranayam is just not confined to increasing the immunity system through controlled breath; but, also it gives immense strength to thoughts, character and presence of mind in various situations.
I would personally recommend you to try pranayam, with daily practice you can definitely increase the efficiency of your respiratory system.
I have gone through many videos and found the best video that can teach you pranayam. Although this video is in Hindi, but you will find it easy to follow along. Check it out:
5. Other things you can do
This point is basically a wrap-up, let me quickly share things that are good for your lungs and help you to breathe even better.
Consider Indoor plants like:
- Snake plant

- Spider plant (trust me, I’m not asking you to invite animal kingdom to your home, these are actually plants).

- Aloe-vera

- Arcea Palm

- Bamboo Palm

- Engish Ivy

-> You can also buy an air purifier, that will tell you if the air inside your home is dirty or not, and will help in cleaning it. Check this out:
->Steam inhalation can also help in breathing as it drains the mucus, but frequent inhalation of steam is not advisable.
Before I end this blog, I would suggest you get your lungs tested to know more about your lungs. Some people think that they are able to breathe properly, so everything is fine, but it’s better to get tested for a safe side.
You can also find Fat Guy workout on social media, drop a hi or something.
Until next time, Keep breathing (well, you will obviously do that) and kindly remember to SMILE.
